From 2023, you won’t find our Study Abroad courses listed on UCAS as a separate option. That’s because these opportunities are now available to all our courses across the university! The scheme is run centrally, and you can find out more on our central Study Abroad page.

My favourite module in Auckland was my Molecular Basis of Human Disease module. This combined cell biology, molecular biology, microbiology and physiology to explain the mechanisms underlying the symptoms of different diseases. Other study highlights were using mice to study drug-drug interactions.

Spending a year abroad

Spending time abroad during your degree is a great way to get an even bigger range of perspectives on the subject, and experience life in another part of the world. You'll even pay reduced fees for the year you're abroad.

If you want to study abroad, you can apply to spend time in destinations including Australia, Canada, Europe, India, New Zealand, Singapore and the USA after you've joined the University.

Your place at another university isn't guaranteed – it’s your responsibility to secure one but we’ll do everything we can to help.

Throughout the year we camped amongst Oregon’s beautiful forests and beside its lakes, explored the Oregon coast, spotted bald eagles on Vancouver Island, road tripped through the redwoods in California, celebrated Thanksgiving, watched the elections, skied on Oregon's mountains, and visited Portland to experience much of the great food Oregon has to offer!

Attending an international summer school

Our Global Scholars Scheme allows students to apply to spend from 1-8 weeks at one of our overseas partner institutions' summer schools. A range of destinations are on offer each year, including Europe, Asia and North America.

If you're successful you'll normally take part in the programme during the summer after your first year.
