Eleanor joined the SMI in September 2021 as part of the Centre of Doctoral Training (CDT) funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ERSC) to complete a 4-year integrated PhD and MSc in Data Analytics and Society focusing on Social Frontiers. The PhD is partnered with Delft University in the Netherlands.
The PhD provides an exciting opportunity to combine a passion for statistics and social science. Eleanor’s PhD research will focus on the impact of migration on segregation and the effect of social frontiers on social and economic factors such as educational outcomes, mental health, and crime. Eleanor is interested in research about inequality, social mobility especially focusing on children’s outcomes. The PhD offers Eleanor the fantastic experience of working alongside researchers at Delft University with an incredible micro-level social science dataset.

Prior to joining the University of 91Ö±²¥, Eleanor completed an Integrated Masters in Mathematics and a PGCE in Secondary Education in Mathematics at the University of York.
