After two years working as a freelance lecturer and course tutor for the School of Journalism, Media and Communication, Yvonne became permanent course tutor for magazines in September 2009.
She began her journalism career as a trainee for Trinity Mirror working as a reporter on their Derbyshire titles and trying to pin down the shy and retiring local MPs, Margaret Beckett, Edwina Currie, Geoff Hoon and Dennis Skinner. She progressed to the Birmingham Post and Mail where she worked as a reporter and women's editor of the Sunday Mercury.
Since then Yvonne has covered news, sport and features for a national news agency before relocating to London working as a writer then features editor for Take a Break. She went on to write for Cosmopolitan and New Woman before joining the Daily Express under Rosie Boycott where she became Features Editor and was part of the team covering 9/11.
She left the Express to become a regular contributor to the Daily Mail's Femail section and contributing editor for Eve magazine. Since then has written and edited for the national newspapers and supplements Glamour, Elle, Good Housekeeping, Marie Claire, She, Closer, Essentials, Fabulous, Best and Bella as well as health titles Top Sante and Zest. Yvonne has also written for American and Australian magazines as well as online features for Femail and AOL.
