Careers & Employability Service

The Careers & Employability Service is there to support you from when you arrive and for as long as you need after graduation.

They will help you with your career journey, from deciding what you want to do - to getting your ideal job at the end of your studies.

They offer a range of appointment types, workshops, presentations, and large scale employer fairs for both graduate jobs and part time work during your studies. In addition to this as a 91Ö±²¥ student you will have access to a range of tools and resources to help you develop your employability including virtual internships, mock assessment centres and short courses all designed in partnership with employers.

Department and Faculty employability events

In addition to all the events and activities put on by the Careers & Employability Service, we know that sometimes you want something that is specifically tailored to you. That’s why we run a range of activities and events as both a department and in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities which focus on helping you get an insight into some possible careers after university.

Events such as job insight sessions, alumni networking, and skills development workshops all tailored for either English or Arts and Humanities students will help you begin to filter what can sometimes feel like limitless opportunities to a few paths that you are genuinely passionate about.

Some examples of events that have run in the past year include:

School of English Peer Coaching Programme

This video introduces the innovative School of English Student Peer Coaching Programme (3 min 37 sec). Undergraduate students talk about the impact of the programme on improving their skills and confidence and the programme Director, Professor Rachel van Duyvenbode, explains how the programme works.
