It’s really exciting when the content overlaps and you can connect your two subjects together
Why did you choose to study at the University of 91Ö±²¥?
I chose the University of 91Ö±²¥ for so many reasons. It has an excellent academic reputation and modules that interested me in my course. I was really drawn to the University’s amazing Student Union - there is always something to get involved in and exciting things going on. 91Ö±²¥ itself is also such a student city and it has really great energy, I just love it here.
What do you enjoy most about your course, and why?
So far I enjoy my seminars the most. They’re engaging and interesting - especially my English seminars - because everyone is pulling ideas together and discussing thoughts. It’s where I come up with ideas best and realise I understand the content in a lot more depth than I may have initially thought. I also especially enjoyed my Contemporary Literature module, as it had such a variety of interesting texts.
What’s the best thing about being a dual honours student?
The best thing about being a dual-honours student is simply being able to do two subjects at once - I love the variety and being able to switch to some different material if I’m feeling like I’ve had enough of Philosophy for the day, or vice versa. Neither workload feels overwhelming, and I like being able to balance my attention in two directions. It’s also really exciting when the content overlaps and you can connect your two subjects together.
What skills have you developed during your course that will be useful after you graduate?
I’ve learned how to think critically about the texts or theories I study, and I’m able to come up with new ideas about the content I'm learning. Being able to discuss effectively with other people has been the most valuable skill to me - I feel so much more capable of sharing my thoughts clearly, and I’ve learned how productive it can be for my work to collaborate.
