New electricity substation completed for Hicks building

A new electricity substation which will provide power for the Hicks Building has recently been installed underneath the Cycle Hub.

Hicks Building

The building was previously supplied via the Students' Union substation, causing this substation to run at full capacity which inhibited the potential for further growth and created potential risk to our business continuity.

The project was overseen by Matt Godber, Engineering and Maintenance Location Manager, who worked with colleagues in the Faculty of Science and Rex Electrical to manage the building of the substation and the switching of the electrical supply.

The works have all gone according to plan and will be fully completed by Friday 29 March. The new substation will ensure resilience and stability into the future.
