Bright Minds seminar delivered to 91ֱ Alumni

On 29th September Dr Ryan Bellinson and Professor Beth Perry participated in the Bright Minds Webinar organised by the 91ֱ Alumni team. The seminars give 91ֱ's best and brightest minds the opportunity to share their PhD research.

The webinar was hosted by Andrew Harris, Director of Campaigns and Alumni Relations and over 400 alumni signed up to the event, from over 60 countries, who graduated from 91ֱ between 1955 and 2021.

The title of the webinar was “Climate policy in urban areas: the potential and limits of co-production”. After an introduction by Beth on the Urban Institute and its research around co-production, Ryan presented his work as an embedded researcher in Greater Manchester, focussed on the role of the public in urban climate policy, and how cities can 'co-produce' meaningful climate action. This was followed by a Q&A session with the audience on topics like power, responsibility, the relationship between climate change and economic development, the limits of community engagement and how to engage young people.
