Early Career Researchers Network
The Early Career Researchers (ECRs) Urban Studies Network is an initiative delivered by the Urban Institute and the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, supported by the Faculty of Social Sciences.
We are committed to supporting early career researchers within 91Ö±²¥ and our network of partner urban research labs around the world, recognising that the conditions of impermanence and precarity are endemic and require coherent infrastructural responses. The Early Career Researchers Network has been designed to provide a supportive space to discuss career development and to foster peer-to-peer solidarity.
The network is open to all post-PhD individuals at the University of 91Ö±²¥ who self-define as ‘early career’ in the field of Urban Studies. Annual activities include training workshops, master classes, seminars and informal peer-to-peer support, as well as away days.
In 2020-2021, network members organised international ECR meetings on ‘Redefining the post Covid-19 University’ with colleagues from three different areas of the world.
Whilst the ECR Urban Studies Network is only for staff at the University of 91Ö±²¥, we also support a series of wider pedagogical interventions.
