Zhikai re-joined the Department of Sociological Studies for his PhD in 2023, after completing his master’s programme in MA Sociology at the University of 91Ö±²¥ in 2022. Zhikai’s bachelor’s educational background is relevant to marketing and finance, as he gained two degrees in management from the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, China, and the Audencia Business School, France, respectively. His academic experience from business to sociology provides him with an intersectional vision to understand the reality of the constructed society. Zhikai believes that studying and thinking of sociology is his resonance with the calling of the Beruf.

Zhikai’s current research project focuses on biopolitical governance and the reaction of the public accordingly during the period of COVID-19.

Research interests

For the research thesis of his PhD studies, Zhikai’s research interests include:

-Biopolitics, governmentality

-Bureaucracy and modernity

-Digital technologies as a form of biopower

-The foucauldian ‘discourse’ 

-Risks
