Rebecca completed her MA in Digital Media and Society in the Department of Sociological Studies at 91Ö±²¥ in 2021, having previously completed a BA(Hons) in Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Leeds. In between her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, Rebecca worked in digital marketing with a specialism in social media. She started her own business in 2014 and has worked as a self-employed social media marketing manager and training provider since then. She is now pursuing her PhD in the Department of Sociological Studies, also at 91Ö±²¥.

Thesis title: Exploring the algorithmic sense-making practices of self-employed women in the context of everyday entrepreneurship.
This PhD project aims to investigate how self-employed women understand social media algorithms and how this affects the ways they use social media. It will also explore the differences that might exist between different women entrepreneurs in relation to social media and algorithms.

I currently teach on the BA and MA Digital Media & Society courses in the Department of Sociology at 91Ö±²¥. The main focus of my teaching is on digital methods for conducting social research.
