Nabila joined the Department of Sociological Studies in October 2022 to pursue a doctoral research opportunity investigating the interrelationship between trust and inequalities in the context of data driven media. She has a professional background in information and research management as she has worked at various roles in libraries and universities in London throughout her career.

Research interests

Provisional Thesis Title: Exploring Trust In Digital News Media Among Young Underserved Audiences In An Age Of Artificial Intelligence

Nabila’s PhD project investigates how AI-generated media may affect young audiences trust in the news. She will be interviewing industry practitioners and young adults to gather their perceptions of AI, which will help in setting up creative workshops using generative AI. This project is undertaken in collaboration with BBC Research & Development as part of the EPSRC’s industrial cooperative award scheme (ICASE). It is one of four PhD projects seeking to understand and address digital inequalities through timely research to help guide responsible innovation.

Nabila is also currently working as a student research associate in the Creative Library Project at the University of 91Ö±²¥ Library, exploring explore creativity and knowledge justice which the aim of liberating the library.
