Merissa joined the Department of Sociological Studies in 2022 after completing an MA in Social Research at the University’s 91Ö±²¥ Methods Institute. Prior to this, Merissa worked professionally as a UX Researcher, predominantly in NHS organisations, for six years alongside completing an MSc in Psychology at Leeds Beckett University. She also holds a BSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Essex.
Merissa’s academic and professional background has been instrumental in developing her research interest of racial health inequality, both traditionally and digitally. Her PhD research therefore focuses on understanding and mitigating the inequalities faced by ethnic minorities with blood cancer in the UK.
