Maria joined the Department of Sociological Studies in 2021, to pursue a phd having previously worked as an Associate Lecturer in Sociology at Northampton University. She received a first-class joint honours BA degree in Sociology and Business Entrepreneurship from Northampton in 2017 and her MSc in Social Research Methods at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2020. Maria's interests lie at the intersection(s) of medical sociology and technology. With emphasis on the social aspects of identity formation, social representations, corporeal commodification, marketization, bodily gifting, gift narratives and gift economies.
