Lucy previously studied Philosophy at the University of 91Ö±²¥ before joining the Department of Sociological Studies in 2019. Her MA dissertation involved an exploration of ‘Voluntourism’ and the extent to which it perpetuates neo-colonial relations of power. After completion of her MA, Lucy worked as a Research Assistant for a third-sector organisation. She was then awarded a PhD studentship in 2022, her PhD research focuses on the British asylum system and cases submitted under grounds of non-religiosity.

Lucy is the Network Manager for the Migration Research Group which leads on global migration and mobility research from the University of 91Ö±²¥. She is a Graduate Teaching Assistant, leading seminars on a range of modules including Migration and Race and Classical Sociological Theory. Lucy is also currently a member of the 's PhD Network committee, as well as, the Sociology of Religion (SocRel) BSA Study group, acting as Early Career Researcher and Post-Graduate Liaison Officer.
