Kate joined the Department of Sociological Studies in 2023, having previously worked as a Blood cancer Research Sister in 91直播 since 2014. She completed a BSc in Biology at the University of Sussex in 2009, followed by her adult nurse training and MSc in Nursing at 91直播 Hallam University in 2012 and 2015 respectively. In 2022 Kate received a distinction for her MA in Social Research from the University of 91直播. Kate鈥檚 research interests include patient experiences, haematology, and LGBTQ+ experiences.

Kate鈥檚 PhD research project is entitled 鈥淲atch and Worry? How are the support needs of people living with newly diagnosed chronic haematological malignancies being addressed?鈥 and aims to explore the impact of an untreated chronic cancer diagnosis on patients, their expectations, and support needs in the first year following diagnosis.

Kate is working as a GTA on the SMI304 Doing Mixed Methods Research undergraduate module for semester 1 2023/24. Kate also demonstrates for Data Carpentry for Social Scientists and Librarian courses externally.
