- Profile
-
I joined the Department of Sociological Studies in 2021. I received my master’s degree of Development of Practice at the University of Queensland and a bachelor’s degree of Sociology from the University of Washington.
In the thesis for the master program, I conducted the feminist critical discourse analysis to study the online discussion concerning the women’s vulnerability to sexual harassment on the China social media platform Weibo. The experience of preparing master thesis motivates me to explore more about various forms of gender-based violence in China. I also presented my findings about gendered division of household unpaid care work during the pandemic quarantine at the 2020 Chinese Sociological Association Conference

Thesis title: How to rebuild China’s urban food system: a critical feminist perspective.
My doctoral research focuses on explaining why and how gender matters in food insecurity issues. I will look at the development of alternative food networks based on community and current urban planning policy about food access. I will also use a feminist perspective to examine the workings of power relations in community negotiation and decision-making process.
