This collaboration with the charities Carers UK and Carers NI has transformed the understanding of unpaid caregiving, gathering information across local authorities and influencing legislation and campaigning.
Rising star in KE and impact (designed specially for Early Career Researchers)
The Menstrual Movement in the Media: Reducing Stigma and Tackling Social Inequalities, Dr Maria Tomlinson, School of Journalism, Media, and Communication
This project explores the impact of menstrual activism and the media on young people's perceptions and knowledge of menstruation, and has collaborated with the Department for Education, the British Standards Institute, 91Ö±²¥ City Council, schools and police forces.

Rachael's contributions have enhanced the institution's engagement with external stakeholders, driving positive outcomes for both the organisation and the community. Rachael has been instrumental in identifying opportunities for collaboration between academia and industry, facilitating the transfer of knowledge from research to real-world applications.
