Dr Rob Alexander is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of York. His main research areas are automated testing, with a particular interest in the safety and security validation of autonomous robots, and the rigorous study of systems safety practice in the real world. He is currently supervising research projects on assurable decision-making using machine learning technologies, automated robotics testing using situation coverage, and best practices in developing robots for infrastructure maintenance.

Rob chairs the Safety Critical Systems Club’s working group on the safety of autonomous systems, and is on the technical management team for the Assuring Autonomy International Programme.
