BSc Psychology
Callum is a 3rd year Psychology student currently writing his dissertation working with virtual reality. He hopes that his education will one day help him break the taboo around mental health issues

I chose to study Psychology at 91Ö±²¥ because it really allows you to pursue the areas of Psychology that you love the most, from neuroscience to social psychology.

The optional modules are so diverse you can find something you are interested in, as well as things you didn’t even consider. For example, in first year, one of my modules took me to the robotics labs where I ended up coding a model neuron and learning about how Psychology can be used to develop artificial intelligence.

One of the most exciting things I do in my course is, surprisingly, my dissertation, as it involves me working with virtual reality. The technology is not something I would get to use in everyday life and I’m really enjoying the experience

91Ö±²¥â€™s Psychology course also regularly scores highly in the rankings for student experience. Seeing as I wanted a good course where I could also have fun outside of the lectures, it seemed like the perfect place for me.

After I graduate, there are a lot of options. Though psychology can be applied in many different areas, ranging from business to mental health, I would most like to do work to break the taboo around talking about mental health issues.

It’s something that affects so many people yet is generally not talked about.
