Lowenna is an inter-disciplinary PhD researcher working at the interface of science-policy. With a background in Conservation Biology and Ecology, Lowenna joined the Department of Politics in September 2021 as a NERC (Natural Environment Research Council) funded student within the ECORISC (Ecotoxicological Risk Assessment Towards Sustainable Chemical Use) Centre for Doctoral Training. Broadly, Lowenna's research focuses on regulation of chemical risk, particularly within the United Kingdom (UK) following the UK's departure from the European Union (EU) (i.e., Brexit). Through her research Lowenna will utilise an array of methodologies in the natural and social sciences to explore issues of de-regulation, dis-engagement and divergence from the EU whilst, also developing, testing and exploring novel methodologies and approaches for evidence-based decision making.
