Profile: Matthew Wood is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics and International Relations. His research is focussed on collaborative governance and investigates how collaboration between diverse groups can be facilitated in the face of competing or conflicting political preferences. He is interested in how collaboration can bridge cultural, psychological, ideological and geographical differences to enable healthy and sustainable societies. His research uses both qualitative and quantitative methods to address these challenges.

Research interests: I study the political conditions for effective collaboration, and the way in which collaboration can improve the quality of governance, especially in health and sustainability policy. I am interested in the way in which deep political divisions and conflicts shape and challenge collaborative human relationships in this process
