Collaborative research, led by a team from the University of 91Ö±²¥ and Javeriana University, into the roots of conflict in the violence-affected Colombian port city of Buenaventura has led to a new city-wide peace strategy and a skills-based training programme that enables communities to engage in conflict resolution at the grassroots level.

Dr Simon Rushton from the Department of Politics and International Relations comments "As a team, we're really grateful to the ESRC for their recognition of the work that the Improbable Dialogues project has been doing in Buenaventura - and especially the work of our colleagues and partners in Colombia who have worked incredibly hard to keep the project's activities moving forward through the COVID-19 pandemic."
