A new seminar series on Processes of Conflict and Peace has been created to generate discussion on a broad range of topics, from the dynamics of civil war, political violence and protracted conflict, to climate change, conservation and environmental activism, and post-war peacebuilding and reconciliation.
At the Department of Politics and International Relations, we have a number of experts who work to better understand these and other questions that are of profound importance for societies marked by conflict using a variety of conceptual, theoretical and methodological approaches. The Processes of Conflict and Peace Series will bring them together to discuss their ongoing and future projects.
The seminar series will also launch the new Centre for the Comparative Study of Civil War established to house Dr Anastasia Shesterinina鈥檚 new UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship 鈥Understanding Civil War from Pre- to Post-War Stages: A Comparative Approach,鈥 develop interdisciplinary collaborations and partnerships, build a network of researchers and advance research in the area of civil war in particular and conflict and peace in general.
Dr Anastasia Shesterinina, Lecturer in Politics and International Politics, will open the seminar series on 27 January 2021, introducing her UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship, the Centre for the Comparative Study of Civil War and the Processes of Conflict and Peace Series, followed by a roundtable discussion Rethinking Civil War as a Process led by postgraduate researchers at the Department of Politics and International Relations.
Seminars will run throughout the Spring Semester on Wednesdays at 3:30-5pm and are open to all members of staff, postdoctoral fellows, postgraduate researchers and students at the University of 91直播.
