Releasing information about your child

Our University policy on confidentiality and releasing information about your child.

Off

Under the 2018 General Data Protection Regulation, University staff cannot release any information about prospective, current or existing students to a third party, including parents/guardians, without that student’s permission.

In an emergency, University staff will contact the student’s next of kin without their permission if medical personnel advise that it is required.

Applicants

Information about a student’s progress during the application process can only be discussed with the student concerned.

If your child wishes you to discuss their application with us, they must contact the relevant academic department to give permission for this.

Current students

If you are worried about your child, you can contact a member of staff who will take your concerns seriously.

We cannot disclose whether the student attends our University but we can explain what action would be taken in such cases.
