How to set up a Disability and Dyslexia Support Service (DDSS) appointment.

Booking an appointment

We offer either online or in-person appointments:

  • We use Google Meet for online appointments. These can be either a video or just an audio call
  • In-person appointments take place in our offices on the ground floor of the Alfred Denny Building

You'll have been invited to book an appointment via a Google Calendar, which means you can choose an appointment date, time and format that works best for you.

If you want to book an in-person appointment, select one of the appointment slots in the calendar that specifies ‘IN-PERSON’ in the title.

The calendar link will be shared with you so that you can book one appointment. Please do not:

  • share this calendar link with anyone else
  • book an appointment with less than 15 minutes to go before it is scheduled to start. If you do so, our team won't have time to undertake the preparatory work in time for the meeting

If you have already set up your University of 91Ö±²¥ account

Log in to this account to book the appointment. This ensures that the appointment is added to your University of 91Ö±²¥ Google Calendar and so that it is clear to us who we are due to have an appointment with.

If you do not have a University of 91Ö±²¥ account yet

You can still book an appointment, but you must ensure that you type your full name into the title of the appointment you book, and that you make a note of when the appointment will take place.

You will be emailed a confirmation of your appointment. If you have booked an online appointment this email will include a link to a Google Meet.

If you have any queries, or need to rearrange your appointment, or if the availability in the adviser’s calendar does not match your own, email disability.info@sheffield.ac.uk or call +44 114 2221303.

Attending your appointment

Online appointments

At your scheduled appointment time, access the meeting by clicking on the appointment entry in your Google Calendar and then clicking the 'Join with Google Meet' link. Alternatively, if you have been emailed a Google Meet link to join the appointment, you can click on that instead.

If you have any difficulties accessing your appointment, contact disability.info@sheffield.ac.uk.

If you have not joined the appointment 10 minutes after its start time, the DDSS adviser scheduled to meet with you will try to make contact with you by email.

In-person appointments

These take place in our offices in the Hillsborough Centre, on the ground floor of the Alfred Denny Building. We are directly opposite the Students' Union Building, on the other side of the concourse to it.

For additional detail about the accessibility of the building, see AccessAble using the following link:

When you arrive at DDSS, come to reception and our admin team will let the adviser you are scheduled to meet know that you have arrived.
