Dr Mustafa Kavas is currently a Lecturer in Strategic Management at 91Ö±²¥ University Management School (SUMS). Prior to joining SUMS, he held a postdoctoral research fellowship at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass), City, University of London, where he focused on developing risk-sharing mechanisms to mitigate the economic impacts of pandemics.
He received his PhD in Strategic Management from Bayes Business School (formerly Cass), City, University of London. His doctoral research delved into the dynamics between spirituality and strategy practices within family firms. His research has been published in various journals including the Journal of Business Ethics, Strategic Organization, and Organization Theory. In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr Kavas contributes to the wider scholarly community as a member of the Editorial Board of Strategic Organization and as the Treasurer for the Strategizing Activities and Practices (SAP) Interest Group at the Academy of Management.

My main research interest lies in the nexus of spirituality and strategy practices within family firms. My research particularly focuses on how religious beliefs inform and shape the strategizing processes and practices of family firms operating in the Anatolian part of Turkey, where religion permeates society. I am also interested in strategy-as-practice in pluralistic and paradoxical contexts.
