Teaching interests

Ahmad has a wealth of experience in leading and teaching wide range of accounting modules to students of diverse cultural backgrounds and learning abilities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He also has experience in supervising undergraduate, MSc and PhD students. Throughout his academic career, he has been able to demonstrate excellence in teaching. In 2017, he was awarded the 'Excellence in Teaching Award' from Essex University. He was also recognised in 2021 as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Ahmad has great experience in integrating research and teaching whilst improving student experience and in incorporating interactive/engaging educational tools such as case study analysis, games, videos, group discussion, debate, quizzes, etc. He uses innovative materials that incorporate theories and practices, supported by real-life examples from corporate practices and scandals around the world. This has greatly motivated his students’ interest in the topics and enhanced their understanding of the current complex business environment. It has also motivated his students to embrace critical thinking and avoid taking the usefulness of the current business practices for granted.
