With over 15 years of teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, I am committed to inspiring students to develop a deep understanding of accounting while equipping them with the skills and confidence to excel in their careers. My teaching approach is student-centric, integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. I integrate my research into teaching to provide students with insights into contemporary accounting and governance challenges. My research is broadly based in the area of Accountability and Governance in the Global Fashion Industry Supply Chains with the focus on Global South. This is part of the ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) work and in my research I am interested in exploring the governance and accountability issues of the often-criticized governance failures attendant to the Bangladeshi readymade garments industry - a significant player in the global supply chain of apparel brands and fashion industry.
My previous role at BRAC University, Bangladesh as the Senior Research Manager and Bangladesh Lead of the international research project funded by Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) titled ‘Regulation of International Supply Chains (RISC): The Governance of Occupational Health & Safety in the Bangladesh Ready-Made Garment Industry’ was precisely premised on my deep interest in the interface of accounting discipline and governance challenges that often characterize an industrial sector or human labor in developing country contexts. This academic research project was between Copenhagen Business School, Denmark; Tufts University, USA; Danish Ethical Trading Initiative (DIEH), Denmark; and BRAC University, Bangladesh. In particular, this project conducted qualitative investigations into the various projects, programs and initiatives that arose after the Rana Plaza tragedy in 2013 (e.g. the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety, the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh and the ILO’s BetterWork Program) to understand the effectiveness of different approaches/initiatives to provide greater accountability and governance.

My ultimate goal as an accounting educator is to inspire students to develop a deep understanding of the subject while equipping them with the skills and confidence to excel in their careers. As an educator, I have always focused on planning teaching methods tailored to the level of my audience and finding the most effective way to disseminate knowledge. I'm open to questions from the students and believe in creating a learning environment that is both engaging and stimulating, where students will acquire the skill set required to solve real-world business problems.
Ensuring an inclusive learning environment is a priority for me, and I am committed to accommodating diverse learning styles and backgrounds by employing flexible teaching methods and providing accessible materials. I actively foster a supportive classroom culture where students feel comfortable asking questions and participating in discussions. Furthermore, an essential feature of being a good teacher is being available and approachable. I am available beyond my consultation hours via email and online platforms to assist students with any questions or concerns they may have.
With over 15+ years of teaching experience at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, I aim to prepare my students not only for professional success but also for meaningful contributions to the field of accounting through a combination of rigorous academic instruction, practical application, and a supportive learning environment.
