Theme leads
The Centre for Machine Intelligence (CMI) strengthens the University of 91Ö±²¥â€™s position as a global leader in AI research and education. The Centre cultivates interdisciplinary collaboration across fields such as social sciences, manufacturing, health, and digital twins while engaging with industry, government, and non-profit organisations to advance AI innovation.
The CMI is appointing Leads for its four interdisciplinary research themes. The Theme Leads will work across different faculties and institutes and will play a pivotal role in furthering the CMI's mission to foster outstanding interdisciplinary research in and/or on AI at 91Ö±²¥ and beyond.
- Human-Centric AI - This theme will address challenges in social interaction, using AI for good and conforming to legal and ethical norms.
- AI-Enabled Research - This theme will transform research across all disciplines by providing new methods for understanding a wide range of data (images, sound, sequences, etc.), detecting key or rare events in massive data sets, extracting new insights in scientific and health data.
- Autonomous Systems and Robotics - This theme will enable a new generation of robots and other autonomous systems including bio-inspired solutions and their safe and secure adoption in applications such as healthcare, agriculture and manufacturing.
- AI for Engineering and Manufacturing - This theme will enable efficient and robust manufacturing processes, novel design and production of chemicals and materials, and accessible AI-driven manufacturing systems.
