Profile

I am a Lecturer in Criminology and joined the School of Law in December 2014.

Prior to this I was a funded PhD student at the University of Leeds and I was also a Research Assistant at the University of Leeds.Since 2007, I have held various teaching positions at Teesside University, Leeds Beckett University and the University of Leeds.

My thesis was titled 鈥楳oving On after Getting Out: Support and Accountability for Convicted Sex Offenders' and was based on 30 semi-structured interviews with sex offenders.

In particular, I examined how offenders perceived the addition of Circles of Support and Accountability and the use of volunteers during their reintegration into the community.

The thesis was supervised by Professor Susanne Karstedt, Dr Stephen Hutchinson and Dr Birgit V枚llm (University of Nottingham)

I have recently co-authored a book on the Resettlement of Sex Offenders after Custody with Prof Terry Thomas published by Routledge and I am working with Dr Philippa Tomczak to examine the role of the voluntary sector in criminal justice.
