Michael Johnson scored first place in the best radio news report category for his feature Freddy Oliphant was awarded first place in the TV Sports Journalism category for his TV package
Freddy was also commended for his TV work elsewhere in the awards, receiving a runner-up prize for his piece
Lynn Dixon, course leader for MA Broadcast Journalism, said:
“These prestigious BJTC awards are a true testament to Freddy and Michael's hard work, commitment, skill and talent.
“They both produced impactful, insightful, creative and engaging radio and television stories, and I am so happy they have received this recognition as they embark on their new careers. All of us in the Department are incredibly proud."
The BJTC is the most recognisable accrediting body for Broadcast Journalists in the UK. Its seeks to celebrate and highlight the exceptional work of young journalism students on its accredited courses.
This fantastic news comes just months after the Journalism Department and its at the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) Awards for Excellence – including Student of the Year and Innovation of the Year.
