- Driver's licence
- Other photographic identification
If you cannot provide any of the above, please contact HR who will issue you with a letter confirming your status.
Your UCard is your University identification card and entitles you to privileges dependent on your role. Staff UCards have the following uses:

- Library borrowing
- Access to buildings
- Discounted prices at USport
Get your IT account
When you are issued your UCard, you will also receive the details of your University computer account. This will provide you with access to all the University’s IT systems.
When you first sign in you’ll also need to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) to help secure your account. Learn more about MFA
If you need assistance with anything to do with IT at the University, contact IT Services.
Payroll and Pensions
The Payroll and Pensions team will email you to retrieve your bank details.
Department tour
Your line manager will arrange for you to be taken on a tour of your department where you can be introduced to the other members of your team. You may also have introductory meetings with some of your colleagues.
You will also be required to have a Health and Safety induction, where your Department Safety Officer will show you the fire exits, first aid kits and other useful safety information.
Mandatory Training
All new starters are required to complete mandatory training in their first few weeks of their role. The training you are required to complete will vary depending on your role, but will include fire safety, information security and display screen equipment training. This can be completed at your desk in your own time.
Getting started with Google
The University uses Google Workspace, providing all staff and student IT accounts a wide range of apps and services including email, calendar, storage and collaborative tools.
IT Services organises monthly training for new starters on how to make the most of communicating and collaborating in Google Workspace applications.
