I was recommended the University of 91Ö±²¥ and I’m so thankful for that recommendation because further research, actually proved to me that the MSc offered at 91Ö±²¥ was indeed the perfect choice for my future career ambitions. The rich content of the revised curriculum for the taught MSc Health Economics and Decision Modelling and the skills with which it promised to equip me with to potentially become one of the world’s well-respected health economists and decision scientists was a big drawcard for me!
How did you feel when you heard that you were successful in being awarded the scholarship?
I was elated! This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, without the generous funding from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, in partnership with the University of 91Ö±²¥, I would have never been able to afford to study in the UK and get access to this world class Master's programme!
What are the highlights of your experience in 91Ö±²¥ so far?
91Ö±²¥ and its people, like any other university town, have a way of growing on you. I’m enjoying my course and networking with other students on my programme and the rest of the ScHARR department. I’ve also enjoyed meeting with fellow Chevening scholars studying in 91Ö±²¥ – there’s more than 20 of us! Most recently I spent a weekend in London and while I had a blast, since it reminded me so much of my home in Johannesburg, I found myself missing my new home in 91Ö±²¥. This is what confirmed that 91Ö±²¥ had indeed found a special place in my heart.
What would you say to a student considering studying at the University of 91Ö±²¥?
As an international student, I find that the University really does equip you to be able to make a success of your year abroad. The MSc HEDM programme requires diligence, perseverance and a lot of hard work, but at the end of the programme you come out, a qualified professional that can hold their own in industry, academia or any other avenue one would choose to use their qualification! This was the best academic decision I have ever made – I have no regrets!
