Gaza-Palestine Postgraduate Taught Scholarship 2024
We're pleased to offer one scholarship for a taught postgraduate student from Gaza in 2024.
The 2024 scholarship covers the cost of tuition, accommodation in a single occupant en-suite room in University halls of residence and a maintenance award of £5,000.
Eligibility
To apply and be considered for the scholarship you must:
- be a citizen of Gaza or having been a citizen of Gaza prior to the escalation of the conflict in October 2023.
- be self-funding and classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes
- hold a conditional or unconditional offer from the University of 91Ö±²¥ before the application deadline to study a one year, full-time postgraduate taught masters course starting in September 2024
Points to note
- Distance learning and part-time students are not eligible for the scholarship.
- The scholarship cannot be awarded in conjunction with any other scholarships, discounts or rewards from the University or external sources.
- Full terms and conditions will be sent to the successful applicant when the award is confirmed.
- Applicants who left Gaza because of the escalation of the conflict in October 2023 are eligible to apply but will need to evidence that they were resident in Gaza immediately prior to this time.
How to apply
Applications are now closed. The deadline to submit your application was 1pm (UK time) on 28 May 2024.
Unfortunately, we are not able to accept applications after the deadline.
Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified before the end of June 2024.
Selection process
Applying for the scholarship is a competitive process and not all applications are successful; a panel of senior members of staff will select the strongest application.
The panel will be looking to see in particular if you have:
- Provided a clear rationale for applying for a postgraduate course at the University of 91Ö±²¥.
- Outlined challenges to academic progress and detailed how these barriers have been overcome successfully.
- Clearly articulated future ambitions; these goals relate to the postgraduate degree you have applied for, and how your learning will benefit others.

- The scholarship will be paid once you have arrived in 91Ö±²¥ and are fully registered. The University cannot release the funds from the scholarship before this time.
- You must be classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes.
- You must be self-funded to receive this award, ie not funded by a research council, government, private enterprise, charity or any similar organisation.
- This scholarship cannot be awarded in conjunction with any other funding awards, either from the University of 91Ö±²¥ or external sources.
- Your mode of attendance must be full-time.
- You must begin your studies at the University of 91Ö±²¥ in 2024. This scholarship cannot be deferred.
- Receipt of the scholarship is subject to successfully meeting any condition(s) attached to your offer before the deadline provided by the Admissions Service.
- Receipt of the scholarship is subject to successfully receiving a visa to study at the University in September 2024.
