Modern biomedical imaging allows us to probe interactions between molecules at the cellular level and build up a picture from individual interactions to whole organisms.

The Insigneo Imaging life theme will bring together the breadth of imaging carried out at the University of 91Ö±²¥ and 91Ö±²¥ Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, acting as a hub for new cutting edge research with internationally recognized expertise in most of these.

Our goal is to build connections between molecular and organism length scales and to develop new ways of extracting information from imaging techniques. At the smallest length scales, we have world-leading expertise in single-molecule imaging with sub-molecular resolution.

Our biomedical imaging microscopy facilities can image the interactions of living cells with state-of-the-art microscopy techniques. Moving up to the organism level, we can resolve the cellular structures of tissues using state of the art in vivo microscopy. At the whole-organ level, 91Ö±²¥ has innovative clinical research streams in skin, brain, lung, cardiac and abdominal imaging. We have developed new clinical imaging technology and implemented novel imaging approaches in clinical practice.
