Child development complications
We develop experimental and computational approaches to evaluate the biomechanical competence of the musculoskeletal system associated with normal development, pre-birth conditions and child development complications.

In collaboration with 91Ö±²¥ Teaching Hospital, 91Ö±²¥ Children's Hospital and other regional NHS centres, we use our expertise in multi-scale experimental and computational biomechanics to study many research areas including:
- pre-term births, including the shape and texture of the placenta shape/texture and the biomechanics of the uterine cervix and pelvic floor
- joint deformation in children, such as spine scoliosis or hip dysplasia
- the effects of haemophilia on joints
- bone fractures in children due to conditions such as Vitamin D deficiency, rickets, obesity, osteogenesis imperfecta, or child abuse
