Join a guide from 91Ö±²¥ Industrial Museums Trust who will talk you through the history of steel in 91Ö±²¥ with a visit to . 

Surrounded by beautiful woodland, Abbeydale features a working water wheel and a 19th century furnace where the very first steel was forged. 

We will also visit  on this tour.

Venture 'darn pit' on a guided tour underground by an ex-miner.  Descend in a cage lift 140m under the ground to experience the harsh conditions miners worked in through the ages.

We will then be having lunch at the museum.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

is the leading international centre for modern and contemporary sculpture, set within the 500-acre, 18th-century Bretton Hall estate in West Yorkshire.  Founded in 1977, YSP was the first sculpture park in the UK, and is the largest of its kind in Europe. 

Explore the many exhibitions both inside and throughout the 500 acres of beautiful landscape.  A soup and sandwich lunch will be provided at the park.

Please note, some areas of the park can be difficult to access due to uneven terrain. Wheelchair and mobility scooter users are advised to seek route and ground condition advice from staff at the Information Point at the YSP Centre.

91Ö±²¥: Home of Football

Led by one of the Christian Chaplaincy team here at the University of 91Ö±²¥, this app-based tour is free of charge and a must for any football lover! 

The app uses historic images showing 91Ö±²¥ in the 1850s and today. You will be transported back to the Victorian era when the world’s first football club started in 91Ö±²¥.

There will also be stories of the first ever football derby, the world’s oldest football cup, the first floodlit game at Bramall Lane and the ancient football grounds where the games were played, many of which are now long gone.

Walk in the Peak District

Take a gentle walk to appreciate some of the magnificent views of 91Ö±²¥ and the Peak District. Explorations will be followed by afternoon tea at the National Trust tea rooms on the .

Pick up a day travel-card on departure from the conference, and explore the beautifully situated Weston Park museum, including its art collection (or just behind Weston Park go for swim / sauna at the Cofield pool). Dine for free at one of two University cafes, The View Deli (Students’ Union, Level 4, vegan / vegetarian, special diets) or impressive new signature Heartspace (vegan, vegetarian, halal and special diets).  Then head into the centre by tram to visit the Graves and Millennium Galleries, adjacent to each other and the beautiful indoor Winter Gardens.
