Questions about confidentiality can be sent to syicb-sheffield.universityhealthservice@nhs.net where they will be directed to our Caldicott Guardian, Dr Hannah Prosser, as needed.


Zero tolerance

At the University Health Service all staff / patients must be able to come to work / use our services without fear of violence, abuse or harassment. The NHS has a zero tolerance attitude towards violence. Violent, threatening or abusive behaviour, including shouting and swearing will not be tolerated at this practice. This includes LGBTQ+ phobia.

Patients who act in such a manner will be asked to leave the premises; the Police may be called and you could be removed from our patient list.

Our staff are here to help you, please treat them with respect.

We take any bullying, threatening, inappropriate behaviour or undermining remarks about
staff/patients on Social Media or other online internet platforms very seriously and this will not be tolerated. We will take action to manage this type of behaviour. Any such action may result in reporting the patient to the police in regard to sections 2, 2A, 4 or 4A Protection from Harassment Act 1997, or offences under the Malicious Communications Act 1988 and Communications Act 2003.


Appointment attendance

If you do not attend your appointment, or you cancel / rearrange with less than 30 minutes notice, it will be classed as a 'Did Not Attend' (DNA). 

All DNAs will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, but if you miss 3 appointments within a 12 month period our Medical Director and Practice Manager will review whether it is appropriate to remove you from our patient list.

Where possible, please provide at least 24 hours notice when cancelling / re-arranging an appointment. You can cancel as instructed in your appointment reminder message, or call the practice directly. You will need to call the practice when re-arranging appointments.


Accountable GPs

All patients at the University Health Service are given a named accountable GP. They will be responsible for your overall care at the Practice. 

You can book appointments with any doctor at the University Health Service that you choose. If you wish to know who your named GP is or if you have a preference please contact reception.


Declaration of average GP earnings

It is a contractual requirement for practices to publish on their website the mean earnings for GPs.

The average pay for GPs working at the University Health Service in the financial year 2023/24 before tax and National Insurance was £71,848. This was for 1 Full-time GP, 20 part-time GPs and 5 locum doctors.


Primary Care 91Ö±²¥

The University Health Service is a shareholder in Primary Care 91Ö±²¥ Ltd (PCS). PCS is an organisation set up by GP Practices in 91Ö±²¥ which aims to provide high quality, locally based, NHS Services to patients. 

Some of these services are based in local practices and provided by UHS. Alternatively, your GP may, after consultation with you, refer you to a service provided by PCS at another GP Surgery. 

PCS is committed to a social purpose with any surplus being reinvested into General Practice for the benefit of patient care.
