I was challenged in many ways but I can see a difference in myself and how much I have grown in the past year.

Why did you decide to study abroad?

I wanted to study abroad as I believed it was an experience I would not ever get the chance to do any other time. I knew it would mean I would be pushed outside my comfort zone and face different challenges but this would hopefully make me develop some essential skills for the future.

What were your top 3 highlights whilst studying abroad?

  • Meeting and making lots of new friends.
  • Taking part in local events - I attended an excellent fireworks festival!
  • Travelling around Japan.

What would you say to someone who was unsure about spending a period abroad?

It is tough but such a great experience! I was challenged in many ways but I can see a difference in myself and how much I have grown in the past year - I would do it all again in a heartbeat!

What is the one thing you wish you'd known before you left?

At the beginning it is hard, lots of administrative tasks whilst adjusting to your new life abroad, but it does get easier and you make so many great memories!

For students who will be arriving in 91Ö±²¥, what are your top recommendations for things to do and see in 91Ö±²¥?

  • Pom Kitchen - Super cool cafe with great drinks.
  • Birdhouse Coffee.
  • Brunch in Botanical Gardens.
  • Walk/picnic Bamford Edge - a short hike for a sunny afternoon!
