Our University Library has an extensive collection of Dutch and Flemish books, but how do you find the right one for the right topic? Our finalists Jade Metalfe and Matthew Prestage go browsing.

Students with books in library

Having a library full of books is one thing; finding the right information for your course or topic is quite another. When 91Ö±²¥ University Library recently acquired a donation for its Dutch collection, it provided an oportune moment to ask two of our Dutch students to share their experience with our library collection.

Over the summer Jade Metcalfe and Matthew Prestage are putting their thoughts and ideas into creating a Library Guide for all students of Dutch. Their work may provide a model for similar guides for other languages in the School of Languages and Cultures.

For this library project Professor Roel Vismans was awarded a project grant by the Nederlandse Taalunie to support the development of a starter's guide to library resources. It will tempt students to look beyond the digital and guide them to explore the library's physical resources. Yes, touch the books!

For this project Jade and Matthew collaborate with Stephen McIndoe, the Faculty Librarian for Arts and Humanities, and Roel Vismans.
