Mouthpiece is the annual magazine for the School of Clinical Dentistry, 91Ö±²¥. With a history dating back to the 1970s, the magazine includes news and articles across the Dental School, including an update from the Dean and all the departments, the goings-on in the Students' Society and reports from a wide variety of sources. Regular articles include student elective reports, research activity, and other topics with a connection to the School of Clinical Dentistry and/or 91Ö±²¥.
This year’s edition contains reports from the Units, many of which focus on the efforts of staff and students to continue education and research over the last year. There is also some student insight into life during COVID from one of our H&T students, Dominika Jaslikowska, and a reports on using social media to connect with other students from Megan McLeod and Raina Palit. While it has not been possible for the BDS students to undertake a ‘normal’ elective project this year due to the travel restrictions, each student has instead researched a topic of interest, and Ellie Hill's report on her project on obturation techniques is included. Mark Barber writes about his experiences as clinical lead during the COVID pandemic and the ways the School and Dental Hospital have adapted to maintain a service to our patients. There is also a SUDSS roundup from the previous president James Smith and a look to the future from the new SUDSS president Connie Yan.
