ELLIS is a leading initiative inspired by the model, focusing on machine learning research and fostering collaboration through Programs. These programs bring together experts to explore shared research themes via workshops and joint efforts. Currently, ELLIS connects 43 sites across 17 countries, uniting European excellence in machine learning and emphasizing fundamental science, technical innovation, and societal impact. ELLIS Fellows and Scholars are distinguished scientists within the European Machine Learning/AI community. They are selected after a rigorous peer-review process for their contributions to the field and their role as ambassadors of ELLIS, promoting data-driven AI research in Europe.
Dr. Chen, a Lecturer in Computer Vision at the School of Computer Science, is a member of the Insigneo Institute, and a member of the Centre for Machine Intelligence community. Following her election as an ELLIS Scholar, she will join the ELLIS program, serving as an ambassador for the ELLIS network and as an advisor eligible to co-supervise students together with other renowned ELLIS fellows and scholars.
