A highly experienced safety and risk professional, Stephen combines a deep knowledge of managing safety and risk with the cultural awareness and communication skills to work effectively with students and professionals from any part of the world.
With a background and expertise in process safety and loss control, Stephen was one of the first part-time students on the Process Safety & Loss Prevention MSc at the University of 91Ö±²¥, and has utilised the knowledge gained on the 91Ö±²¥ University PSLP course, as well as extensive industry experience, to assist a broad range of companies to understand, control and mitigate their process and safety related losses.
Stephen has worked with industries as diverse as Aviation, Thermal Power, Nuclear Power, Oil & Gas, Shipping, BioChemical, Hazardous Waste, Water, Brewing and Rail, amongst others; in each case exploiting the tools and techniques of process safety and loss prevention to assist these companies manage and reduce their losses.
With expertise in quantified risk assessment, risk analysis and uncertainty modelling, and accustomed to working in highly regulated industry, the core of Stephen's work has been helping these companies understand their issues, improving their awareness of risk and embedding strategies to manage safety and reduce the number of incidents.
With an ability to take complex issues and make them simple and understandable, Stephen has organised numerous training courses in the UK and elsewhere to educate, train and promulgate the techniques of the identification, analysis and control of hazardous events. As a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Environmentalist, Stephen is also keen to ensure that engineers with less experience have access to appropriate coaching, mentoring and constructive feedback.
