Student nominated for Emerging Leader award

Congratulations to undergraduate student, Chalisa, who was nominated for the ISPE Emerging Leaders award.

Chalisa

The Emerging Leaders awards launched in 2021 by The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE)  in order to recognise young and upcoming professionals working with Pharma.

ISPE is a nonprofit association serving its members by leading scientific, technical, and regulatory advancement throughout the entire pharmaceutical lifecycle. The organisation is the global industry leader in connecting pharmaceutical knowledge to deliver manufacturing and supply chain innovation, operational excellence, and regulatory insights to enhance industry efforts to develop, manufacture and reliably deliver quality medicines to patients.

Although Chalisa didn鈥檛 get an award we are so proud that she made it through to the finals in the Emerging Leader Student Category. Her nominator said: 鈥淚t was a pleasure to nominate Chalisa who I've been mentoring for the last couple of years. I've seen her grow in confidence and lead herself and others to success after success. Notably, securing the AZ summer placement and multiple offers for Industrial year. I'm proud that Chalisa was shortlisted for this award.鈥

Chalisa said:

I am really proud to have been nominated for this award. I am currently doing my industrial placement with F. Hoffman-La Roche where I work on optimising the spherical crystallisation process from screening to scale-up of different APIs. This nomination reinforces my leadership and personal development throughout my degree, societies and placements. It also serves as a reminder that anyone can be considered as an Emerging Leader and recognising your effort, achievements and determination is equally as important as identifying what could be improved.

Not only is Chalisa excelling in her placement and her studies she also takes part in lots of extra curricular activities. She volunteers nationally at outreach events with Women in Engineering (WiE) and IChemE for primary and secondary school students. Organising WiE mentoring programmes also allowed her to contribute to the long-term goal of WiE. She was also recognised for her dedication and resilience through the Student Union Top 5 Inclusion Officer of the Year Award.
