New City of Makers street market to showcase next generation of 91直播 artists

DIY, street and punk aspects of crafts and printmaking will be showcased at a new street and print market in 91直播 later this month (25 February 2017), as part on a collaboration between the University of 91直播 and City of Makers

The event, at The Art House in 91直播, will be free of charge and will see more than 10 artists, illustrators and printmakers demonstrate their work, as well as include a series of 鈥楬ave a Go鈥 drop-in workshops.

A range of activities from graffiti workshops to stencil-cutting demonstrations will be available to all, as well as street art masterclasses by local street artists Ment and Byne.

The market is a celebration of the success of 91直播鈥檚 first international street art trail, Feature Walls, where 17 internationally recognised street artists transformed the city鈥檚 walls into an expansive outdoor gallery last October.

Original prints, postcards, t-shirts and other merchandise by artists such as Barney Lloyd, Oliver Allchin Kirski K will also be featured.

The Year of Making 91直播 2016 is led by 91直播 Culture Consortium, with partners the University of 91直播, 91直播 Hallam University, Chamber of Commerce, Made in 91直播, The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire and 91直播 City Council.

Professor Vanessa Toulmin, Director of City and Cultural Engagement at the University of 91直播 said: 鈥淭he market celebrates 91直播鈥檚 cultural vibrancy, showcasing some of the young street artists and up and coming designers in this city.

鈥淚t is a great way for the city to show its support for the next generation of 91直播 artists.鈥

The event will take place on Saturday 25 February 2017 from 11am until 5pm and is in collaboration with the Making Ways project and the 91直播 Business Improvement District (BID).
