Sioned Davies, a third-year MEng General Engineering student, has been recognized by Siemens as their Intern of the Year. The recent graduate, who completed a one-year internship with the company, was selected from a pool of fifty applicants and ten finalists by members of the Siemens UK Executive Managing Board, including CEO Carl Ennis.
During her placement with Siemens Research and Innovation Ecosystems, Sioned played a pivotal role in establishing the University's first Digital Innovation Zone (DIZ). This achievement, alongside her contributions to other research projects, earned her the prestigious award. The DIZ aims to provide students with enhanced access to Siemens technology, fostering the development of digital skills and inspiring future engineers.
Siemens, a global leader in industrial manufacturing and the largest in Europe, focuses on digitalization, electrification, and automation.
Sioned said: "I am honoured to earn the Siemens Intern of the Year award in recognition of my efforts. The internship has helped me move beyond theory and help me put my skills into real world practice.鈥
鈥淚n particular, I'm confident that the digital skills and knowledge I've learned this year will benefit me in completing my degree and provide a solid platform for me to pursue a career after I graduate. The internship truly has helped me immerse myself in one of Siemens core and exciting business areas!"
