2022 to 2023 MArch studios
An introduction to the MArch studios we ran in the academic year starting in September 2022. Some of these studios have built on previous work, and some of them reflect the pandemic that was a core part of life in these years.
Collaborative Production
Informed by post-capitalist theory, this studio explores an alternative model based on interdependency, social capital and local value, transforming the way people engage with local governance, education, recreation and cultural exchange.
Industrial Ecologies
Thinking as ecologists, we sought to understand Attercliffe as we found it. Through bio-based retrofit and nature-led landscape design we repurposed what we found, creating exciting places for community to grow in our post-carbon future.
Invisible Cities
(re)Activist Architecture
Promoting the systematic integration of the 鈥渦rban poor鈥 into the city of Cairo.
Resilient Futures
Exploring Sarajevo鈥檚 periphery; the vast mountains and forests, derelict industrial sites from the Yugoslav period, unregulated settlements and inter-entity borders.
Studio in Residence
Working 鈥榠n residence鈥 with Castlegate stakeholders to develop speculative design proposals that will directly inform co-production with the council, community groups, independent businesses and arts organisations.
