- Profile

As a lecturer in nursing at the University of 91Ö±²¥, I research new and advancing roles in healthcare (such as the nursing associate and advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) roles) and teach on several programmes. I have worked clinically across a range of healthcare settings, including emergency admissions, substance misuse and urgent care; most recently as a primary care advanced nurse practitioner (ANP). My PhD, based at the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR), explored knowledge mobilisation in ANP clinical decision making in the emergency department, using ethnography. I contribute to module leadership and am co-chair of the school’s ethics committee.
- Research interests
-
My research focuses on emerging roles within the healthcare workforce. Between 2018 and 2022 I worked on a programme of research studying nursing workforce issues. In June 2022 I was awarded a Florence Nightingale Foundation Scholarship to travel to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, where I explored how ACPs have adapted their work through the COVID-19 pandemic. I am currently working on a project researching enhanced and advanced roles in systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT), funded by the Cancer Alliance.
I have experience in a range of qualitative methods, including, interviews, observations, and focus groups, and have contributed to mixed methods projects and literature reviews.
